Golf Psychology

So what does golf psychology have to do with reducing your golf handicap ?

The next time you are faced with a shot that is causing you any sort of negative emotion, do the following:

Step away from the ball.

Identify the negative feeling and focus on it while performing the “tapping” as described below.

1) Using the tips of your index and middle fingers, tap on the boney area about one inch directly below one eye – approximately 10 times.

2) Next tap 10 times on the boney area just outside the same side eye.

3) Then tap the insides of your wrists together approximately 10 times.

4) Finally, take a deep breath, step up to the ball and swing away.

Yes, it really can be that simple and by applying golf psychology, you can eliminate the mental and emotional barriers between you and consistent peak performance.

The above demonstration is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the enormous potential inherent in these techniques.

How To Read a Putting Green

The majority of golfers have difficulty when it comes to understanding how to read a putting green especially if you are a novice to the game. Practice and experience are the most reliable ways to assist you in enhancing this daunting skill. Nonetheless, there are some practical tips and techniques, which I have outlined below, which will benefit you in speeding up this educational process.

Reading Putting Greens Tips

Slope of the Green – be sure to identify where the high and low point of the green is when you are walking up to it it, as this will give you a rough concept of which way it is sloping and by how much. Of course you will also need to check for any subtle rises and falls when you are actually on the green itself. This one of the best tips for putting in golf I can give you.  When you have developed a picture in your head of the shape of the green then you will start to understand how soft or hard you will need to hit your putt depending on where your ball lies.

Check the Line from all Angles – always have a look at the line of the putt from all angles, i.e. from in front and from both side views and not just from behind, as this can sometimes be deceiving when reading putting greens. Combining the slope and the various angles that you have identified will help with improving your confidence in how to read a putting green with the ultimate aim of reducing the number of putts per round that you take.

Curing the Slice in Golf : Follow These Tips To Consistently Hit the Ball Straight

Firstly we need to understand what causes a slice before we can look at curing the slice in golf. With a right hander, the ball veers off to the right created from a left to right bend in the ball flight.  We can therefore deduce that the ball is spinning in clockwise motion on it`s path. For this to happen, the club face must be pointing to the right with the club going off to the left. This creates the clockwise spin on the ball. You can often confirm this by looking at the divot produced which will be left of the target line from the point of impact. We are going to look at how to correct a slice in golf by dissecting each element of the grip, the stance and the golf swing.

You will also gain no satisfaction from the experience and will probably never try it again. The following golf tips for beginners will give you a fantastic base to work from.

Golf training aids in more recent years have received a lot of bad press especially amongst the teaching professionals and traditionalists. Many of these golf teaching aids are seen as very gimmicky but for the most part, these aids are helpful to the player working on a specific aspect of the game. Golf Putting Tips: Making That Three Foot Putt

Putting is, or should be, a simple part of the game of golf. After all, the putting surface is relatively smooth; you don’t have to get the ball airborne; there are no hazards to avoid, and the putter has alignment markings on it to help you aim properly….It basically requires a fluid stroke with the hands, arms and shoulders rocking back and forth in unison…with no lower body movement. Rinse and repeat every time you are on the putting green… What’s so tough?
